With Rememberance Day only a few days away, I thought I’d whip up a quick, simple to do, inexpensive -but lovely, poppy craft.
You will need
- Water bottles
- Paint brush
Cut the water bottle in half, cutting the bottom half of the bottle so that it’s slightly smaller than the top half.
Cut down the sides of each bottle, in four even cuts. These will be your petals and leaves. The bottom half of the bottle will be the poppy, the top (with the spout) will be the leaves.
Bend the petals and leaves out.
Cut and round the edges of the four petals of the poppy and (a little pointier trim) for the leaves.
Paint! I used an acrylic paint and gave each flower at least three coats.
Add details. A nice way to encourage a child to add fine details is to have pictures of real poppies around the creative working space.
These finished poppies could be displayed ‘as is’ or hot glued to a wreath.
How did yours turn out? I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading and sharing my posts! ❤️
