We love to play ‘grocery store’ and ‘restaurant’ so pretend food is a favourite.
This was super fast and easy to make, cost next to nothing and the kids love it.
Save the images at the bottom to print and make a set for yourself!
Here’s what you need.
- Scraps of wood (small pieces in a variety of shapes) Ask at your local lumber yard for free scaps
- Sandpaper
- Food Images (take from below or use old cooking magazines)
- Mod Podge and Brush
- Scissors
Sand the rough edges of your scraps of wood.
Cut out the images that you’d like to use and roughly cut to the size of your sanded piece of wood.
Add a nice thick layer of mod Podge to the wood and to the back of the food image. Stick the image to the wood and gently flatten it out, removing any bubbles.
Let it dry and then add a few more layers of Podge (allowing each layer to dry in between coats.)
Right click and save the images below to print.
Let me know how it turns out or if you need any other food images 🙂
As always, I love to hear your comments, questions and always appreciate when you share my posts.❤️
Happy Crafting!

Love this and would like to do it. But what exactly is mod podge? I’m guessing it’s a form if pva glue? Am I correct in thinking this please?

It’s like a watered down white glue. Google ‘Mod Podge’ to read more about it or to make your own 🙂

What a great idea! Just a quick question – if using these outdoors how do the images hold up in the weather or do you store them away after use? I like the idea of them being accessible for impromptu play but wasn’t sure if the modge podge acted as a sealer to help them last more than the first few rainy days 🙂

Thanks 🙂
If you’re going to leave them outside, I’d use a better sealer than the mod podge. Though – the face rocks that I made (months ago) have held up very well with just the mod Podge…

I love and want to make this for my FDK. The kids will love an outdoor kitchen. Where do you get your wood pieces? Thanks, Karen

Hi there!
I gather pieces from a variety of places. Ask friends/family to collect the ends and scraps leftover from projects or ask at your local building centre 🙂
